Melbourne to Metung - Travel Time 3hr 30min.
If you have kids & dread the words "Are We There Yet...?' One Word = IPad! The perfect distraction! If you don't have one, just take slow deep breaths. You'll be there soon enough & trust us - It's worth it! Now that the kids are sorted, how about us big kids? Driving the normal route via (Princess Hwy) can be 'shall we say... "a little Boring!" Sure, the main roads are great but there isn't a great deal to see along the way plus 'peak season' can be rather hectic on the roads. Let's avoid all that! If you want to arrive in approx. the same travel time but see some pleasant sights along the way + less traffic while maintaining the same 100kms speed zones along the way? Then this is for you! The Drive Up: (Scenic Route) (Note - This applies to guests travelling x Melbourne) Using your navigator, enter destination as Maffra. Whilst on the Princes Hwy, take the exit @ Yallourn North & follow the maps to Maffra. You'll drive right beside the 'Yallourn North Power Station'. Then through some rolling hills on your way through to 'Tyers'. There are beautiful views of the 'Great Dividing Range' with some nice little towns including Cowwar (Count how many cows you can see), Heyfield to Maffra. We suggest a pitstop for lunch or to stretch the legs @ Maffra. If you want a good Pub meal, we suggest 'the recently refurbished' Maffra Community Sports Club. (Click link for website). From here, using your navigator, enter Kings Landing accommodation address & follow directions. FOOD/SUPPLIES - We recommend stopping in Bairnsdale on the way through to stock up on goodies. We had a fabulous stay @ kings landing! The house was clean and inviting, with all the little touches provided by the hosts. The kids had a ball. They didn't know where to start, between the Pool and the inviting Play areas. With regular visits from a local echidna, the kids named 'Eddy' - was the highlight of their day! We look forward to staying again. |
